Lifetime Relief
The purpose of Lifetime Relief is to take some charge off the major
things in a person's life, the people, the places, the events,
whatever your attention is tied up in. It would include any
prior therapy or self-help as a matter of course.
Generally
Overview: You break up your life into bite-sized chunks, maybe of
around five or ten years each. The chunks can run by the calendar,
as in "from 1st January 1970 to 31st December 1979", or by
description, as in "the several years I lived in Kansas", as long as
it is clear what is intended. The idea is to cover the whole of
this lifetime from birth until now.
For this example, I'll use the calendar, and pretend you were born 5 July
1982. First, take the period from 5 Jul 82 to 31 Dec 89. Get an
idea of the main people, places and events from that time period and
run Rub & Yawn on it. Different aspects of your life will
flicker through, and most likely your attention will fix on a
particular person/group/place or event. Zoom in on that particular factor and
take the charge off it using the regular Rub & Yawn
procedure. When it is discharged, take up that general period again--flick, flick, flick--and another aspect will draw your attention.
Zoom in on that one aspect, discharge it as usual, then zoom out and
look at the general overall time period of that chunk again. You don't have to zoom in on specific events in the sequence that they happened--just take up and discharge each one as it appears. Continue doing this until no aspect of that entire chunk of your life sticks your
attention any more. This may take one session, or it may take many
sessions.
Then take the chunk from 1 Jan 90 to 31 Dec 99. Address it as
above. Then from 1 Jan 2000 to now.
By Flows
After addressing your life generally, you can then address it by flows,
Flow 1, Flow 2, Flow 3, Flow 0:
- Flow 1: Things happening to you, e.g. someone kissed you; or you got sick.
- Flow 2: You doing something to another or others, e.g. you kissed someone; or
you stole someone's lunch; or you deliberately didn't show up when you were needed.
- Flow 3: You observed something but were not directly involved; another or others to themselves or others, e.g.
you watched a fight; or you saw an accident; or you saw a girl deliberately hurting herself.
- Flow 0: You to yourself, e.g. you decided to get sick; or you ate too much.
Note that one single incident can involve more than one of these flows. For example,
you got beaten up one day (Flow 1). But first you hit the other person for no
good reason (Flow 2). And deep down, maybe you wanted to get injured so you
could play the role of victim (Flow 0).
It is not so much how one analytically classifies these things, but how one
gets the charge off. Let's say you are addressing this fight as it seems to hang up
in your memory and you can't seem to shake it off. So you work it over with Rub & Yawn as
a Flow 1 incident, the other person beating you up. You don't find any yawns coming off as you've already
gone over this many times before in telling your friends over coffee and so forth. But this time
you address it as a Flow 2 incident, you harming the other person, and maybe you find some charge coming off
as you yawn away and do the rest of the procedure. Then you try Flow 3--nothing there. Then you try
Flow 0 and are amazed to find that the most charge is on this flow--you wanted it to happen so you could
get off school and everyone would feel sorry for you. Or you find that there is no charge on Flow 0 at all. It all
depends. It is not something one can necessarily predict ahead of time.
At this point, in doing Lifetime Relief By Flows, you will not be addressing a single incident with all four flows at the same time. But in later routines, when an item comes up, you will be addressing it with all four flows (or as applicable) before going on to the next item.
Take the first period of time, maybe from birth to aged ten. Use the same time period as when you went through generally if that worked out OK for you. This time, just concentrate on Flow 1, all the events of that period from a Flow 1 viewpoint, things happening to you. It is OK if this is how you mostly looked at it last time and there isn't so much to run this time through.
Do the same for the next time period, concentrating on Flow 1 again. And the next. And so on, until you've run your whole life up to now with Flow 1.
Now take that first period of time, maybe from birth to aged ten. But this time, look at the events of that period from the viewpoint of Flow 2, you doing things to others. You may find new events popping into view that you had forgotten about or that didn't come up before. That's fine. Just do the normal Rub & Yawn procedure with them, zooming in on the events that stick and taking the yawns out of them, then zooming out again to the general period. Continue like this until you have taken all the charge you can find on Flow 2 off this first period of your life.
Now take the next period of time, concentrating on Flow 2 as before. And the next. And so on, until you've run your whole life up to now with Flow 2.
Then do the same with Flow 3.
Then do the same with Flow 0.
You should be feeling somewhat relaxed about your life by now. If you want to go over something again, that's fine, you can do so. But don't worry if everything is not perfect in your life as there is a lot more that will addressed with the routines to come.

People Relief
In session, make a written list of people or groups who you feel have been hostile to you, or are hostile to you right now.
As you write down the names, put one, two or three crosses next to the name depending on the level of hostility
or bad feeling. This does not have to be exact as it is just to get a rough idea of which to deal with first.
Keep writing until it seems like you have written down all the names you need to. You don't need to overdo it
as you can always add to the list later. No-one need see this list except you, so you can be honest.
Your list might look something like this:
Mary XXX
James XX
That demon that no-one will believe me about XX
Uncle Frank XXX
God XX
Mother XX
That church group X
Josie X
That nasty guy in the corner store XX
Ann X
George X ?
um....
Time to end off writing the list!
Now it's time to take some charge off. If any of the items you wrote down got you yawning already, start with that one--or if more than one, the most obvious one, not necessarily one with the most crosses. Use Rub & Yawn with this item until you have discharged it as best you can. This may take one or more sessions.
Note that you are addressing the hostile side of the person, as he/she appears to you. For example, if you are a guy and you are addressing a girl you used to know who gave you trouble, do the creative bit with her acting hostile to you, not with her smiling and taking her clothes off.
When you've discharged as much harmful energy as you can with regard to that first person, then go on to the next item on the list. The general idea is to start at the most heavily charged, and work your way down to the least. This may match up with the number of crosses you wrote next to each name, or it may not. Just do it in the order you think best.
If you think of more items that should go on the list, just add them to the list and address them at the appropriate time later in session, or a future session.
Remember to check the different flows when taking charge off a person. What you did to the person may be as important, even more so, than what the person has done to you. And Flow 3 and Flow 0 too. If someone has acted in a hostile manner towards you, it is very likely that you have done something to that person or someone like them, so do include imaginative actions of this character while doing the Rub & Yawn process to pick up the relevant ones you might have forgotten about.
This People Relief routine is completed when you feel like you have discharged as much harmful energy off your list as you can at this time, and mention of a name from your list doesn't cause you a significantly bad reaction. This doesn't mean you have to welcome the person with open arms the next time you see them, although you just might.

Places Relief
In session, make a written list of places, locations you feel have been hostile to you, or are hostile to you right now.
This doesn't mean the place has to be malevolent in some way, but you don't like the place for whatever reason.
School XXX
My first job XX
That parking lot where I got mugged XX
Wal-Mart XXX
The gym XX
Dentist office XX
IRS office X
Hospital X
um....
Now it's time to take some charge off. If any of the items you wrote down got you yawning already, pick an obvious one, however many crosses you gave it. Use Rub & Yawn with this item until you have discharged it as best you can. This may take one or more sessions.
Remember to check the different flows when taking charge off a location. What you did at the place may be as important, even more so, than what happened to you there. And Flow 3 and Flow 0 too.
Then go on to the next item on the list. The general idea is to start at the most heavily charged, and work your way down to the least. This may match up with the number of crosses you wrote next to each location, or it may not. Just do it in the order you think best.
If you think of more items that should go on the list, just add them to the list and address them at the appropriate time later in session, or a future session.
This Places Relief routine is completed when you feel like you have discharged as much harmful energy off your list as you can at this time, and mention of a name from your list doesn't cause you a significantly bad reaction. This doesn't mean you have to rush out and scatter rose petals at the locations, although you just might.
